Install (PrestaShop)

This page describes the full PrestaShop install path: what to check before upload, how to install the module, how the first setup wizard works, and what to do if the install does not finish on the first try.

For more detail about the wizard steps, see Install.

Check these first. Skipping them is the most common cause of a stalled install.

  • PrestaShop version: PrestaShop 1.7.6.0 or later, or 8.x. PrestaShop 1.6 is not supported.
  • Back office role: you need an Administrator account, or a profile with the Modules permission enabled. The Configure button is hidden if your role does not have it.
  • Module .zip: a valid Kea Labs Search Pro module package. If you are not sure which file, ask your Kea Labs contact or check the email you received after purchase.
  • Browser: a current Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. The wizard iframe does not load in Internet Explorer.
  1. Sign in to PrestaShop back office as an Administrator.
  2. Open Modules → Module Manager.
  3. Click Upload a module in the top-right corner.
  4. Select the Kea Labs Search Pro .zip from your computer and confirm the upload.
  5. When the upload finishes, the module row appears in the list. Click Configure on the Kea Labs Search Pro row.

If Configure does not appear, see If the Configure button is missing below.

The first time you open the module screen, PrestaShop loads the Kea Labs dashboard. The dashboard runs the first setup wizard. The wizard has five steps; the names below match the labels you see on screen.

  1. Welcome. Short introduction to the setup flow.
  2. Choose Experience. Pick the storefront mode for your shop: Search Widget, Classic Results Page, or Widget + Results Page.
  3. Search Interface. Configure the search interface behaviour for the mode you selected.
  4. Theme & Integration. Confirm where search attaches on your storefront and set the base theme colours.
  5. Build & Preview. The dashboard starts a preview build. When the build is ready, the button on this step changes to Open Preview. You can also open preview from the dashboard Home card, labelled OPEN PREVIEW.

If you close the wizard partway, it resumes from the last saved step next time you open the module. You do not need to restart from step 1.

  • Search is not yet live for shoppers. The storefront still loads PrestaShop’s default search until you complete the Go Live step.
  • The dashboard Home card may show Building preview or Indexing for a few minutes. Both are normal and finish without further action.
  • A short delay between finishing the wizard and seeing the module marked Enabled in Modules → Module Manager is normal.

The back office shows one of these messages; the cause and the fix are different in each case.

  • “Not a valid module” — the file is not a PrestaShop module .zip, or the archive is corrupted. Re-download the .zip from the original source and try again. Do not unzip and re-zip the package manually.
  • “File too large” — your PHP upload_max_filesize or post_max_size is below the module size. Increase both values in php.ini (or ask your hosting provider to), then retry.
  • “Module already installed” — the module is already present in the list, possibly under a different display name. Search the module list for keaprosearch before re-uploading.

The Configure button on the module row is rendered by PrestaShop only for roles that have the Modules permission. To fix it:

  1. In PrestaShop back office, open Advanced Parameters → Team → Employees.
  2. Open your employee profile and switch to the Permissions tab.
  3. Under Modules, enable the permission. Save.
  4. Return to Modules → Module Manager and reload the page. The Configure button now appears on the Kea Labs Search Pro row.

If your shop uses a custom role that does not list the Modules permission at all, ask the shop Administrator to grant the permission or run the install from an Administrator account.

The dashboard is an embedded iframe inside the module Configure page. If it stays on a “Connecting…” spinner or a blank area:

  1. Reload the back office page.
  2. Clear the PrestaShop Smarty cache.
  3. Open the Configure page in a private/incognito window to rule out a stale browser session.
  4. If your store sits behind a CDN, a web application firewall, or a reverse proxy, allowlist the dashboard iframe domain. The exact host is in the Dashboard URL field of the module form.
  5. If the dashboard still does not load, collect the URL of the back office tab and the contents of the browser console and send them to Kea Labs support.

The wizard saves progress at each step, so a freeze does not roll you back.

  1. Close the wizard tab.
  2. Reopen Modules → Module Manager → Kea Labs Search Pro → Configure. The dashboard reloads and the wizard resumes from the last saved step.
  3. If the wizard does not resume, check the dashboard Home card. If the card already shows a preview status (for example Preview ready), the wizard is effectively complete and you can move on to the next step.

You are ready to validate search on the storefront.
